Prevent Fire Damage

Fire is a very dangerous threat to homeowners since it can rapidly spread through their interior. It’s important to be proactive in protecting your house from fire damage. Here are some ways that you can prevent fire damage in your home:

1. Make sure electrical sockets are not overloaded.

2 . Keep flammable objects away from heat sources, such as radiators and space heaters, furnaces, wood stoves, heat registers, etc…

3. Do not buy or store highly combustible materials near the stove or fireplace.

4. When using indoor appliances make sure to use them correctly according to instructions on the manual or product label.

5 . Turn off lights when you’re asleep at night before leaving the house for an extended period of time.

6 . Clean up combustible materials from your yard once a week, such as dead leaves and twigs.

7. Have smoke detectors installed in different rooms of the house. Test them often to make sure they work properly.

8 . Have an evacuation plan in case there is a fire in your house or the neighborhood. Meet the plan with family members before going to bed at night or leaving home during the day!
